Are you ever looking for places to buy local, fresh products or trying to find something new to do on the weekend? If you answered yes to either of those questions, look no further.
Homegrown Frederick is a partnership publication between the Frederick County Office of Economic Development (OED) and the Frederick Magazine. Farms all over Frederick County are featured to showcase their businesses they run right on their farm. This is the ninth year this magazine is being published and this year we followed three farmers through the four seasons. A story that hits home about the life of farming in the fields, to the barns and behind the scenes of how that delicious craft beverage is made.
As you flip through the pages you will get to explore the agricultural life that is thriving right here in Frederick County. You can play a small part by helping support these featured farmers. Go to the roots of where your food is grown by travelling to the farmer’s markets, orchards and roadside stands. When the weekend approaches go grab a cold beer, cocktail or glass of wine made right here in Frederick County to wind down from a long work week. There is something for everyone to do on the farms all year round such as pumpkin patches, festivals, pick your own flowers and cut your own Christmas trees. “It is a book that provides you with endless opportunities to get outdoors, shop local, and take in the beautiful country of Frederick County. Your simple support will create a huge impact on the farmer that they will forever be thankful for.” said Kayla Umbel, Senior Business Development Manager of Agriculture with the OED for Frederick County.
The magazine can be found online here: Homegrown Magazine 2021 and also at the farms that are featured in the magazine. Be sure to check it out and make plans to get out on the farms and support your local farmers.
