Brewing Up Love in Frederick County

The month of February is all about love, and one thing Frederick County residents have love for all year long is the local craft beer industry. With 16 breweries, including the largest craft brewery in the state, Frederick’s beer industry is booming. Whether you prefer classic brews or adventurous flavors, there is something for all types of beer lovers.

Several of our local breweries are celebrating this month of love with limited edition brews, and even pairings with chocolates and cupcakes. Maryland is celebrating the month and all that is craft beer by proclaiming the 3rd annual “FeBREWary.”  Breweries throughout the state are challenged to concoct their own spin on a “Cupid’s Curse” brew. From chocolate flavors, to fruit flavors, some darker and some lighter, each brewer creates a unique version of the limited edition beer. Frederick County boasts seven breweries participating in this year’s Cupid’s Curse challenge including Brewers Alley, Flying Dog Brewery, Monocacy Brewing Company, Olde Mother Brewing, Red Shedman Farm Brewery, Rockwell Brewery, and Smoketown Brewing Station. Beer lovers get the chance to vote for their favorite Cupid’s Curse brew at the “Love Thy Beer” event in Silver Spring, held by the Brewers Association of Maryland.

What better time to get out and try some local brews than the month of FeBREWary! You can find a list of all the Frederick County breweries online here, or you can download the Wineries, Breweries & Distilleries guide.
