Distilleries
In a County known for its deeply rooted appreciation of fine fermented beverages, Frederick County’s new craft distilleries are taking advantage of the “farm-to-glass” movement and a reversal in old Maryland prohibition laws.
In 2014, the City of Frederick also amended their code to allow small craft distilleries downtown. As a result, distilleries are opening at record rates, reviving old processes, using locally-grown products and developing new spirits that preserve the rich history of age-old farming traditions.

Puerto Rico Distillery

Affectionately known on the island as Pitorro, it’s been close to impossible to find it anywhere outside of Puerto Rico. Pitorro is a rum distilled from sugar cane that for centuries has been enjoyed by Puerto Rican families and friends. PRD aims to share the unofficial national spirit of Puerto Rico and its rich traditions.

Shochu is a distilled Japanese spirit and the only Shochu made in the U.S. is made right in Frederick, MD.
